Four fine young musicians from Brazil - plus the sax playing American wife of one of them - dig deep into the book of Brazilian styles to find tunes from throughout that rich and diverse culture. These current and former grad students in the UofL jazz program will of course play some bossas and sombas, but they'll also play other traditional and modern styles such as Baiao, Afoxe', Choros, Frevo, Forro and Partido-Alta. And they'll tell you a little about the tunes by composers such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luis Bonfa, Milton Nascimento, Hermeto Pascoal and Gilberto Gil. This is rhythmic, happy music that will leave you smiling.
